dolariIn all my years of tresspassing...um...exploring, there's only one place I ever felt truly afraid (and I once snuck into an army base).
I'd found a road near my house that didn't seem to go anywhere called Kruger Moore Road. I'd seen it from Bandera road a number of times, and it looked deserted and tiny. Turns out, it went to childhood friend Ryan Kreuger's house (and only his house - a good long two mile drive of nothing to nowhere but his house. No biggie there.
The map showed it kept going, though. So, in my Mom's 4x4 I kept going. The road was paved right up to a creekbed, and then turned into a concrete road winding through some beautiful trees and woods. Eventually, after about a half mile past Ryan's house it exited the woods and took me to a cult-de-sac. The cult-de-sac was completely surrounded by burned out trailer homes.
It was a creepy site, as it was just way way way down this long abandonned road, but it had a light in the center of the cult-de-sac that wa sstill getting power. I drove around the cult-de-sac examining the trailers, and decided to get out. The minute I hit the ground, suddenly, a huge THIS IS A BAD THING vibe came over me.
The never left the cult-de-sac. In fact, I never took my hand of the Bravada. Just thinking about getting closer to some of these trailers was just setting off every alarm bell I had. I'd never ever felt fear like that before. And it wasn't just fear, it was the feeling of EVIL.
I got back into the 4x4 and left as soon as possible.
I'm not sure what happened there, but I've never been back since. It's since been ploughed over for a subdivision. I wonder if whoever lives on the site still gets the heebie jeebies.
