The State of the Jenn.

So, here's what's up. Yesterday morning I woke up to sudden searing pain in my knee and elbow. As time got on, the pain subsided in my elbow but not my knee. Felt okay when I sat down, but as soon as I stood up it became a searing pain again.

I began feeling nauseated that evening just before the Livestream, and eventually had to end it early as I was feeling really poorly.

By evening, my knee was at a dull roar just as I was planning to leave for San Antonio, when I decided to instead go to a standalone emergency room.

The doctor looked at it and said "bursitis." Then he asked about any previous medical conditions, and I told him I was diabetic. Alarm bells went off for him. It was likely a staph infection.

As I had no insurance or even a credit card, he said "Listen, you're in deep trouble...even if we worked on this you'd need to go to a full fledged hospital and you have no way to pay our fees up front. I think it's in your best interest to go to a full fledged hospital emergency room. We won't charge for our work up here, but you have to solemnly promise me you'll go straight to the ER."

Thankfully, the ER was across the street, and they immediately saw me. First doctor again said it was bursitis without even touching it till I told him I was diabetic. And then his alarm bells went off too. He immediately put me on an antibiotic IV, and said it would be a few hours and they'd release me.

Then it became, you'll be here for the afternoon.

Then it became, you'll be here for a few days.

From what I've been told, it's not just a staph infection, but an incredibly bad staph infection and they're trying to kill it before it spreads. The Good news is I'm already feeling a ton better, even if the swelling hasn't subsided. They may need to drain my knee, which would require surgery, but, well, it's not like I can afford any of this anyways...GO FOR IT!

Mom's here, watching over me while I heal up. Gonna be a long weekend. :)
