Used/refurbs are fine. ^_^ Can be good to go with an official source or a dealer, to get a useful warranty - my used D90, back in January 2010, came from a reputable dealer handling only used bodies and lenses, giving me a D90 for about the price of a new D5000, and thus, features like two control wheels (for me, aperture on the front, shutter speed on the rear, usually with auto ISO enabled), focus motor, and flash commander. Had a six month warranty with it, though thankfully, I never needed it, despite putting quite a few shots on that body most days (the office at the time was a few minutes' walk from my original rabbiteering spot, so I'd routinely rack up anywhere from several dozen to a few hundred exposures in a lunch hour).
