Aug. 29th, 2015 10:28 amFor those who want to retrace my steps, here is a revised map of my Vancouver trip (removing personal stuff and closed parks) as well as a list of parks and places I visited:
https://goo.gl/maps/D9ITw - Southern Fraser Valley
https://goo.gl/maps/FM2A1 - Northern Fraser Valley
Avenue 0 Drive - https://goo.gl/maps/ZXWFL
Not a park on it's own, but a nice country drive with the added benefit of being RIGHT on the US/Canada border (The left shoulder, in fact)
Peace Arch Park - https://goo.gl/maps/rQDUv
International Park open to Canadians and US Citizens, as long as you leave the way you came in. The Canadian side is nicer. :)
Semiahmoo Beach - https://goo.gl/maps/o1om9
Technically trespassing on railroad property and Semiahmoo tribal land, but the railroad seems to look the other way and the Semiahmoo provide parking.
Beach near the Bayside Club - https://goo.gl/maps/8YW0X
Public Beach straddling the US/Canada border. Beautiful view of Mt Baker.
Boundary Bay Regional Park - https://goo.gl/maps/dkKNE
Public Beach NOT straddling the US/Canada border, but with facilities. Beautiful view of Mt Baker.
Beach near the Ferry Terminal - https://goo.gl/maps/TSMQX
Public Beach NOT straddling the US/Canada border, and with no facilities. Beautiful view of ferries floating off to Victoria.
Deas Island Park - https://goo.gl/maps/raAjx
Views of Vancouver on the Frasier River, walking trails and a well kept old house.
Steveston Waterfront - https://goo.gl/maps/u60tw
Fisherman's wharf with fresh seafood. Older downtown area has lots of activities. Pajo's is some of the best fish 'n' chips I've had at reasonable prices.
Terra Nova Adventure Playground - https://goo.gl/maps/ZB0Qf
The beach to the north is great for sunsets and watching planes come in.
Flight Path PArk - https://goo.gl/maps/odSgw
Cute little park made to look like a miniature version of Vancovuer Airport. Right on a runway path so takeoffs and landings are right overhead.
Granville Island - https://goo.gl/maps/SOxxY - http://granvilleisland.com
There's so much here I couldn't do it justice. Check out the official website. In short, an artist island with a public market and the artsiest concrete plant in the universe.
Davie Villiage - https://goo.gl/maps/Yd7bV
LGBT center and home of Little Sister's LGBT bookshop.
Stanley Park - https://goo.gl/maps/Gn5iC
Forested park in downtown Vancouver, with amazing viewpoints and tons of walking trails.
Cypress Bowl Lookout - https://goo.gl/maps/QMhnu
Amazing lookout high above Vancouver with Mt Baker looking over the cvity. On a good day, you can see all the way to Blaine.
Cleveland Park - https://goo.gl/maps/ZhUsl
View of the Capilano Lake snaking into the gigantic mountains. Capilano Suspension Bridge is nearby, but I'm so afraid of heights, I can't bring myself to try it.
Burnaby Mountain Park - https://goo.gl/maps/482XO
Views of Vancouver, looking west to the ocean. Also, views to the north towards the North Shore Moutnains.
Ioco, BC - https://goo.gl/maps/I8t5H
Old company ghost town, many building are now in the process of being preserved.
Belcarra Picnic Area - https://goo.gl/maps/SwswV
Nice quite lunch spot overlooking the water.
