Knowing my paycheck was going to be super light because of the time I spent sick, I bought two weeks worth of groceries at once. When I went to make tomorrow's food, it was all rotted. So that really wasn't much of a cost saving idea.
Eep! Is the fridge wonky? Broccoli, carrots, potatoes and suchlike should last weeks quite happily, though asparagus will start going a bit manky on the tips after a fortnight or so. Tins, of course, are a great backup in lean times, for that very reason, though few vegetables survive the process with any acceptable texture, other than tomatoes and beans.
