Sep. 30th, 2016 02:33 amSo, during my first Boulton and Park group meeting, I brought my sketchpad with me, and sketched a few things, since I didn't know anyone there. This got the attention of a few of the members, and did exactly what I'd hoped it would be: an ice breaker.
Later that same meeting, Linda and Tere Frederickson pulled me aside and asked if I'd like to make comics for the support group newsletter. I was absolutely interested. And thus began "A Different Perspective" a gag-a-month comic involving various gender-variant jokes and whatnot.
Towards the end of my run with the group, I'd introduced the redheaded Allyson and the brunette Carrie - the prorotypes for the redheaded Carrie and brunette Allison. It took another six years, its transformation into a 25 episode TV series, another transformation into a 28-page comic series, another transformation into a webcomic, but this was the genesis of Closetspace.
If Linda hadn't asked, Closetspace wouldn't exist.
