Question for the techies, Twitch stream viewers and anyone else interested:

I finished up Skyward Sword this afternoon, and am really looking forward to Minish Cap. However, we've run into a streaming problem.

I thought I was doing good with Skyward Sword, and my roomies here. I managed to keep a 675k stream going while they were both running movies. What I didn't realize, though, was they were watching DVDs, so there was no strain on the internet.

Come later that evening, I tested the stream while they were both streaming movies and my stream had to be cut down to 250k in order to maintain a connection. And while Minish Cap is sprite based, it looked horrid even at that connection (and the 3D Games will look REALLY BAD).

Up to now, I've been playing when they weren't here to use the full upload speed. But after I start work, I'll be streaming when they're here watching movies and playing WoW. I won't ask my roomies to not watch stuff (it's their internet, they're allowed to use it :) ), but I do have other options

1) Stream when they're not here. My days off tend to be days when they're not here, so I can do a stream, like usual, but only once a week instead of two or three times a week.
Pro: Hey, it's just like normal.
Con: Not as often and it eats up a day off.

2) Record the video at a high bitrate during the week, and stream the recorded video on a day off when the roomies aren't here.
Pro: High quality video originals! Still streams like a normal game-stream.
Con: Fake-live broadcast. It'll be the same game and content, but no chat interaction. Would have to sit through a game session twice (recording and re-playing).

3) Record the video at a high bitrate during the week, but upload the video without streaming it.
Pro: Would absolutely look gorgeous, despite whatever the upload bitrate is, the only limitation being how long it would take to upload.
Con: Zero viewer interaction. Not even a chat feature. Would just be entries on an upload page.

None of this affects comic streaming, which is really low-intensity and I've dropped as low as 100kbps for that without a huge quality hit. There's a chance I could still stream while they're here and watching stuff. My absolute lower limit in game streaming is 325kbps, and I don't often hit that. It may be that the 250kbps I had today was a fluke (streaming AND bad internet day?).

What do you, techies and viewers, think is the best option?

(And no, faster internet is not actually an option out here)
