Thoughts Before Bed:
Jenn Fictionalizes the Future.

+ The US will continue to open up it's economy before it is ready.
+ A second wave of Covid-19 begins, worse than the original wave.
+ Economic help will continue to be blocked by the government.
+ The rest of the world, seeing that the US is spiking and believing they US will infect other countries essentially blockades the US, becoming a pariah state.
+ Trump: "We don't need them."
+ Many states refused to allow vote by mail
+ Many liberals refuse to vote to Biden, or refuse to vote outright due to fear of the virus.
+ The November election elects Biden by a narrow majority.
+ Trump administration declares all mail in ballots fraudulent, causing the election to go Trump.
+ Election is thrown to Supreme Court, who allow Trump to discard mail in ballots down party lines.
+ Trump declares victory and pushes to mandate the opening of the economy on a Federal Level.
+ Western States Pact secedes from the Union (minus Colorado)
+ Trump administration against the advice of his cabinet lets the states go "I don't want those ungrateful people in my country."
+ Western States of America loses much of it's economy as big names move out of the states, or relegate their Western HQs to satellite offices.
+ Western States of America lose their rural populations as they vote to rejoin the US on a county-by-county basis.
+ Western States of America economy suffers, but the population is safe.
+ The US economy falteringly recovers, but the death rate is high.
+ Five years after this all begins, the two countries have stabilized (Along with possibly other micro-states that left the US), but are no longer the superpower they were, with the EU and China now the global powerhouses.
+Trump is on his third term, as amended in the Constitution in the crisis. The US Government is far more authorarian and essentially a republic in image only.
+ A new "sublevel" administration in the US is created, combining states into closely related "Regions" where Federal and state governments can work on a regional basis so that "What works in the Midwest stays in the Midwest."
+ The Western States have a moderately powerful (if fragile) economy politically moving farther and farther left with each year. Canada is its first trading partner.
+ The US Economy and has taken a hit both in population and power, but is still spending and working as if nothing has changed, causing a strain on it's remaining resources.

Not a prediction. But it's the fiction I'd write given the world we have today.
