Being that I realized something was wrong in 1985 and didn't have a name for it until the late 80s, resources and advice were few and far between. The number one thing I wish anyone had told me as a child was that I was...well...trans. I just thought EVERYONE felt the way I did until I was told they don't.
#2 - You could do something about it. I spent those middle years knowing something was wrong and having a name for it thinking I couldn't be helped at all.
#3 - GET A MOVE ON. The sooner the better. I ended up not transitioning until I was 25 or so. If I'd transitioned at 18 (sooner was unrealistic in the late 80s/early 90s) my transition would have gone better.
