dolariAt the suggestion of a friend, I bought a hatchet for the forest-roadtripping I do. As I've been blocked by fallen trees before, it doesn't hurt to have.
There's also been a rash of catalytic converter robberies lately. That got me thinking...I have a LOT of equipment in my trunk that I really don't use. Should it get stolen, I'm out a lot of cash. I also have a lot of equipment in my bedroom that isn't used by design.
So I brought it all in today and reorganized it into three categories:
1) In-car street driving equipment
2) At-home forest road/cross country driving equipmment that gets put in the car when I drive cross country or forest roads
3) At-home Emergency evacuation equipment
In-car street driving equipment:
* Hydraulic jack
* Portable air compressor (coming soon)
* 2 gallon gas can (empty)
* Ice Chest
* Brake Fluid
* Oil (coming soon)
* Bungee Cables
* Jumper Cables
* Picnic Blanket
* First Aid Kit
* Grocery Bags
* Bug Spray
* Ankle splints
* Matches
The Cross Country/Forest Road equipment is for long term emergency stuff should I get stuck in the middle of nowhere for an extended period. I drive in a lot of super remote places on these trips, and it could be a while before I'm found:
* All the in-car street driving equipment
* Tow cables
* Three MREs
* Emergency blankets
* Magnesium fire starter
* 2 Quarts of Water
* Hatchet
* AM/FM/HF radio with longwire and shortwave antenna
* Two large USB batteries (one regular, one solar charging)
* 3 Days of Socks and 3 Days of underwear.
The Bug Out kit is more of a "Disaster Kit" for if The Big One hits or there's a long term weather disaster (Which has happened) or, you know, National Insurrection or what not. Basically a survival kit.

* Emergency supply of medications
* 4 gallon bags of water (empty)

* Important documents
