For my friends in South and Central Texas in need of quick windshield deicing:

Turn on you car, turn on your defroster, turn your wiper blades to high (or grab a deicer/spatula). Go get some rubbing alcohol, and put it in a spray bottle. Liberally apply alcohol to the ice. Ice will thin out like crazy, and cracks wil form. Spray the cracks. The wipers should take care of the ice in record time.

When it's done, wipe the windshield dry. if there's much moisture on it, it'll refreeze WHILE you drive, which is a bad thing.

This helpful hint brought to you by Jenn "MY GOD IT'S LIKE GLUE! AND I HAVE TO GET TO WORK IN TEN MINUTES! WHY IS PENNSYLVANIA SO DAMNED COLD!" Dolari.

I'm still in Austin. I used to live in Penna, though. And soon I'll be going to Seattle.

I don't know how people survive in the midwest in winter. :)

*shrug* The buildings are warm, you learn how to wait for your car to warm up, you grow accustomed numb fingers... Personally, I survive via my Jacket-of-Many-Patches.

Besides, I don't know how people live in "hot" places in the south either.

Ice Cream. Lots and lots of Ice Cream.

And actually, I like the feeling of sizzle on my skin. One of the main reasons we moved from Penna to Texas was the fact that we both couldn't stand the cold anymore. My roomie, Penna born and raised, found out he LIKES the heat. :)

Curious. I rather like winter; I think the freezing dry air in my thoat is a wonderful feeling when I first leave the building.
