2005 boiled down to two things for me - money and art.

This year, I have never felt more artistically fulfilled. I've met more friends involved with comics, reconnected with comics folks from my past, and gained some serious accolades over the comics. I've even managed to do a bit of activism via art. Artwise - I am satisfied.

But I've also never struggled so hard with money. In 2001, I've was dead poor, this time, I've managed to stay afloat, but the effort to stay afloat is much harder than the drowning of 2001. Money wise - I could use a little help here.

I have mixed feelings of 2005. Equal parts good and bad. Hopefully, 2006 I can have a better economic situation, while still staying artistically true.

I still don't regret quitting Wincor.

The 2005 One Sentence Year in Review

"What to have, what to hold: A poor man's roses, or a rich man's gold."

2004: You like me! You really like me!
2003: Once more...with feeling!
2002: Wow...that could have gone better.
2001: I hope you die and get ate by worms, Milkman Dan.

money and art, art and money, art or money, hmm

That does look like a general trend to improvement, from 2001-2005. I hope you can improve your economic situation in 2006 without loosing the advances you've made on the artistic front. We live in strange times. Personal computer technology and the Internet have made it possible for people to do so much in so many artistic areas, but the utopia all this technology could enable remains elusive. A cynical person might believe that those in power wish it to be that way.
