dolariTonight's Star Trek: The Next Generation is "The Inner Light."
This is quite possibly the best episode of TNG ever. And certainly one of the top tier Trek episodes ever.
There's a through line though, that has resonated with me, and continues to do so thirty two years later: A civilization coming face to face with a nightmare climate change scenario as their sun went nova.
The subtle changes over the timeframe of the episode, the denials of anything wrong, how society slowly changed to adapt to the new normals. It's...scary to see that playing out now.
The civilization in the episode met a bad end. I hope we don't. Cause I see a lot of us in most of the episode.
