Town is cut off from the rest of the world for a little while. Thankfully, I have a good disaster preparedness kit. I don't think I need it, but it's there if I do.

Even if you don't live in a place that is epecting a Level 9 Earthquake sometime in the near future, disaster preparedness is a great way to make sure you're all good when things like this happen.

It's good to have resources.

Nowhere is 100% safe. It's just that different places have different risks. Here in central Illinois we get wild thunderstorms, occasional tornadoes, and sometimes heavy snow. Today started out nice for winter; by the time we were headed home, it was snowing and slick. We coped by driving at 1/3 to 1/2 usual speed. When we got home I made hot chocolate. It pays to be prepared.

Yeah, I lived in Central Pennsylvania for a few years, so I've seen those Holy Cow snowstorms. And 26 years of Texas Thunderstorms and the occasional hurricane. So yeah, disaster preparedness is high on my list. :)
