Okay folks. The news over at the AWFW site han't been all that enthusiastic, and alongside the ranking in 500s, I have to ask:

1) Do you read AWFW.
2) Would you be interested in a spin off involving the Tribe of Ehrem.

And be honest, and if necessary, be anonymous. I need to know if I should go through this when there may be no readers for it - it's just way too much work for no readers. Frankly, I think readers who DO read AWFW are simply (1) Friends who actually read the comic and (2) Friends who are just very polite.

Also, it should also be criminal to work half your lunch, an hour of overtime (on a day where you only got five hours of sleep), then have to come in two hours early for work the next day.

For me, I enjoy AWFW more than I enjoy Closetspace. This is probably because I enjoy the universe of AWFW, whereas Closetspace is more like real life.

That said, I don't know if I'd be interested in the tribe or not. It would depend on the story. If you did one though, I would definitely check it out.

It certainly *should* be criminal! Is it legal in Texas to do that? AFAIK, where I am, you may NOT work on your lunch hour or anything that is not officially on the clock, but that might be state only. Also some companies are remarkably efficient at weasling around such laws.

I would definately read it - I sort of am already. But I'd like it to be a creative outlet for you, not something that's a burden.

I enjoy AWFW. I like the world of it, the way it works and moves. It's unique.

I really like Closet Space, so I tried reading AWFW. I don't really get it. I tried for a while but just gave up. I wanted to read it to get to know more about you, so essentially, to be nice.

I feel the same. I find AWFW very hard to follow - to be honest i really have no idea what's going on any more. I know the overarching story is cool, but cutting it down to six panels a week i just can't get the scale. I tend to only read CS now - it seems to pack a lot more fun into each bite-size chunk.

1. Yes. In fact, it's my favourite webcomic, and quite high on my list of stories of any kind.
2. Not particularly.

Honestly, I would read it if it was any good. I like CS and AWFW (I prefer AWFW) and so I would probably read a spin off just out of a 'benefit of the doubt' loyalty for the first few months.

I never bother voting for any comics on the rankings sites, though I probably should...

I spotted this on my fiancee's LJ Friends page. She watches for word and updates.
I don't read Closetspace, I don't have you Friended (no particular reason I haven't) and I don't really hang out on the Unicorn Jelly forums anymore. My connection to you, really, is from webcomic to viewer. Yes, I read A Wish for Wings.

Is this a hint to vote?

It's actually not a hint to vote. It's more of a "I don't trust that voting button, who IS reading?" Thanks for reading, though. AWFW sometimes feels like my neglected but obedient child. ::pets her::

You know, you're right. I forgot my #1 rule. "Don't worry about finding an audience, the audience will find YOU." Thanks for reminding me that the advice I give others should also apply to me. :)

It is against the law to work your lunch hour at work IF you're not being paid for it. However, if you're being paid to work your lunch hour, it's legal. This place, totally legal...you work your lunch hours - and are paid for them. 99% of the time, they'll feed you, too.

My last place? Totally illegal. The overnighters were forced to work their lunch hours (actually, we simply weren't GIVEN lunch hours) and then the accounting department would automatically deduct your lunch hour from whatever you worked.

Totally illegal - but in Texas (a so called "right to work" state which really means "right to fire") if I'd said anything, they would have excersized their "We can fire you for any reason we want any time we want" clause.

Did you not get it because it was hard to read? Or was it just not your cup of tea? I do have a bit of that in my readers, where they read AWFW but not CS or CS but not AWFW....

Is it really that unclear? I'm too close to the story to tell, myself. I added the "Story so far" bits for just that reason...but like I mentioned below, maybe its just not your cup of tea?

I read through the archives of Closetspace and AWFW a long time ago and always meant to catch up, but never have. I am a terrible person.

I did feel, however, that both stories had strong source material, and once I *do* catch up (which I will make a point of doing), I would be happy to read the spin-off as well.

I most likely would, unless you suddenly spun off into a Grant Morrison-esque pile of incomprehensibility. Which is fun and all, but part of what I like about how you write is how concrete it all is.

I am constantly curious as to why things work the way they do in your world, and I've kinda' given up into "this is just they way they work".

I'm not sure. Granted i'm not usually a fan of fantasy, though you could see AWFW as sci-fi-ish. Perhaps if i just read it in bigger chunks it'd make more sense - i'm used to buying trade paperbacks every six months in comics or watching an hour-long episode each week for TV. I may go back and try read a few at a time and see how i go.

Write it and I will read.

I'm just worried about your art burden. Can you find an alternate artist? Do it as straight-up narrative with a few illustrations thrown in?

...or have you worked out another way to speed up the process?

Sounds like you should have exercised your nuclear option on your way out the door one final time...

I didn't understand what was happening. It started with a little girl. Did she die? Or was she about to die? Is she an angel or not? Is that a bad angel or a false angel? Some people know who's an angel and some don't? There's is some kind of club for Otherkinds but most of them are part of some evil plot? I guess it is too artsy for me to follow along. It doesn't seem linear enough for me.

I hope my comments are actually constructive and what you want to hear and don't instead make you angry or pissed off. I'm only elaberating because you asked.

Oh, not at all, not at all...I'm all for constructive criticism. :)

>It doesn't seem linear enough for me.

You woulda hated my original plans for the series, where it jumped WAY the heck all over the place. :)

It does sound like you finished it near the middle, though. I've resolved a LOT of those plots since...But again, no biggie. :)

yeah, I did sorta give up in the middle. It seemed like there might be some mean characters, and I don't like mean. I stopped reading Venus Envy until just recently because the dog got killed. Mean people suck (in the bad way).

Anyway, I do realize I gave up too soon, it was just too hard for my brain to keep up with.

The continuity is getting a little choppy. I'm not sure why, and that's why I haven't said anything; without a reason, I have no way to explain what's actually going on, and it could easily be caused by my disintegrating mental processes and not anything you are doing.

A -very- mild suspicion is that the scenes involving multiple angels have somehow managed to convey, without actually depicting, that eternal monotonous of the afterlife that you decided you had to skip, causing several of the scenes to blur together in a way.

I really don't -know- however, and there have been other things that I've noticed in the past that you have made work in really great ways, so... I have faith in you.

2) As long as it doesn't spin too fast. I don't wanna get dizzy.

I'll eventually read everything. =I

Yes and no.

The idea is to draw 52 episodes at a leisurely pace over the next year. Then print them weekly with a years backlog. If I'm too slow, the scehdule won't suffer. Hopefully, AWFW will end before I run out of backlog.
