This year has managed to punch me in the face EVERYDAY since it's started, with another one today. DVD drive just went bad.

1) This proves there's no such thing as karma.
2) I'm just going to hunker down in the corner, put a blanket over my head and just hope the remaining 359 days won't hit me too hard.

Our DVD-RW packed it in too, yesterday. Stupid piece of Samsung junk, won't recognize a blank CD anymore.

January kind of traditionally sucks. It will get better...

Is writing a requirement? I have one or two ex-burners that can still read. Actually, my HP can still burn CDs (or at least it could a few weeks ago).

I also need to be in Austin Saturday the 13th for the quarterly state party executive committee meeting.

I could donate a used DVD-R/RW drive to the cause, if that would help. It's old (mfg Aug 2003) and slow, but it still works. The drive is the Pioneer DVR-106PB that was pulled from my G5 when I upgraded it this year.

I'm really sorry about the drive and about this odd-ball reminder, but someone recently asked about compressing movie files for burning, and I was hoping you might be able and willing to provide them with some info.

If not, I understand. Thought I'd ask.

DVDs suck and so does anything that has anything to do with them.

I hope things get better for you.
