This AWFW episode is the beginning of a major major plot turn that will pretty much drive the rest of the series. I know I've said that a lot lately, but it's true. Originally, this episode "Sunset Sunrise" was supposed to happen directly after Andrea's funeral. Hanna and Andrea were both going to pick up the infant soul (Hanna having a more benign version of Andrea's lines), then from there to this scene. The idea was duty and family. The theme is still there, but the idea to push the series up a month or two in the timeline made a small break for the theme. It's also the first time I showed Hanna in heaven without her veil, and I made sure to show she has her child-debt pigtail - it'll be important at the end of the series. Family is what's important here. Especially motherhood.
CS was just a lot of fun. Any chance to work Irving into a strip is a blast, cause he lets me get away with ANYTHING. All those pics are from EVERYWHERE. Panel 1 is the comic shop I worked at, Panel 2 is the Creamery at Penn State, Panel 3 is the Avenue B Grocery in Hyde Park, Panel 4 is the Camp Verde General Store, Panel 5 is some abandoned building that's been in that lovely state for years, and Panel 6....ah panel 6.
King of Lemon Chicken, my friends. King of Lemon Chicken, despite the terrible name, was possibly the best Chinese food I've ever had ANYWHERE. Served so piping hot that occasionally you got home to find the styrofoam had melted. I singlehandedly kept that place open, earting there no less than once a week, most times TWICE. When I came back from Pennsylvania in 2000, I found out that the restaurant had ceased to be...it was now an Alltel Cellular store, but the sign was still up. If I'd only gotten back a week earlier, I could have kept it open.
We miss you King of Lemon Chicken. THE KING IS DEAD! LONG LIVE THE KING!
I'm taking a chance on something. Wish me luck....
