Over the last couple of days we've had a fair number of folks come by our place in Second Life asking us if we were Jewish, greeting us with "Shalom" and asking if my house was a synagogue (Are the houses crucifix looking crossbeams not enough?)

I began poking around the other night and found out that a synagogue has moved in literally on the other side of the tracks. There were a few folks there, so I walked up and asked if the place was new. They told me it wasn't new, but had just recently moved across from my place, and that they'd just gotten featured in a Jewish newspaper.

So I grabbed a landmark and'll pass it along to people who get lost looking for the temple.

Something finally occured to me, though. One of the folks there asked if I was Jewish. I sat and thought for a second - I've never been able to quantify what I was...but I finally came up with an answer to questions like that:

"I'm athiest with a side of paganism. And I'm still taking antacids for this mornings Super Sized Mexican Roman Catholicism Combo Meal."

Made them laugh.

On retrospect, I'm glad I didn't go looking for the temple in my Hanna outfit. Nothing like showing up at a Synagogue claiming you're an angel while wearing glowing white Muslim hijab.

I've always been afraid to get into Second Life more, just out of a sense that I'll simply be sucked entirely into it.

I feel worried about that less and less as time goes by, though -- I suspect I'll be spending a lot of time in Second Life in the near future. :)

That's why they should make antacid wafers.

Could be worse. You could have gone as Gaueko.

I am Gaueko! New to this Second Life!
The angel I could have come as would have caused strife!

I should go there so I can include it in the religion in SL pictoral I've been working on.

Took yer nickname? Jes pick a different last name then, an you'll be fine.

I strongly suggest, though, a first name dat sounds "real" - once you make it, that's it. An who wants to be "n00bie437boy" for the rest of their lives?

Be sure to stop by The Broom Closet in Benten, Practical Magick in Serenite, an the whole sim of Season's Altar for some handy Wiccan/Pagan stuff for your pictorial. Also, the Wiccan Learning Center will be back in SL in about two weeks: it's moving to an island region.

Oh yes. When you find the right spot, you can get sucked in.

(Look for the memorial to RAW when you get there)

Cheers,
