So where did creativity go? As far as I can tell, there hasn't been an original idea on either film or TV since sometime in the late 70s.

I don't mind reinventing the wheel when it hasn't been done in a long long long time. But after the Sunbow Marvel Comics TV series and all the Japanese anime ones...they're tryingpawn off another Samurai Jack/Dexter's Lab art style on this? No way, man. No way. Import another anime series, hell, rerun the old 1984 series. But for god's sake dont' DEVOLVE the style!

Or better yet, come up with something new! I know! They can animate AWFW! That's new, vibrant, and much better than the drivel they're showing these days.

What's next on their list to bring back and exploit? He Man? thundercats? voltron? The Smurfs?
they already destroyed GI Joe.

My roommate and I were discussing this thing tonight and come to this conclusion.

American producers cannot come up with anything original and surely cannot come up with anything that attracts intelligent people . They seem to cater to the low IQ fan base.

I don't watch much of anything anymore for this very reason.

Actually, there *is* a Thundercats movie in the works. See here for details.

There's also a Gatchaman (aka Battle of the Planets or aka G-Force) animated film in the works: Details here

So yes, exploitation of childhood memories will continue as long as there's money in it.

...been a big fan of the original show. I saw the film trailer a couple of days ago just before seeing Spiderman3. Um, wer, well sorta nice, but pointless, so a remake, is about as bad as some one redrawing Astro Boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astro_Boy)!

One of my dreams would be to animate AWFW. Or CS. Hell, CS was designed around "26 episode" of a TV season. I'd LOVE to do it, granted creative control.
