I just got an EMail. The sender was Gwendoline [Lastname] and the subject line was Vacation Pics. Dean is on vacation in PA right now. Someone he is seeing is Gwyn [Lastname]. Sure enough I open it, and it's an ad for a crappy penny stock.

The war is over: Spammers are now SCANNING OUR MINDS.

Odd...a few days ago I got some spam on my work email--which I NEVER give out--from someone with the same first name as my ex. A rather distinctive first name, at that. Hmm.

More likely their spyware is scanning your computer and calling home with "personalising" details so they can claim to be sending you "targeted" advertising.

Scumbags.

nny thing is, while Gwyn is a friend, she's a very distant friend through Dean. I've had no reason to talk to her, or about her, on the computer in ages.

If it's there to be found the spammers will try and find it. They don't care how many near misses or even way out "misses by a mile" their "personalising" program generates and spews out. They don't even care how many strike near enough to home to make you want to open the e-mail. The bare fact that someone might be fooled is enough for them to do it.

There ought to be an easier way of fighting spammers.

Time to start fighting dirty!

Want to start an orbital anvil delivery service? It's the only way to be sure.
