Sunday
Sunday was the last day of the DOR. Despite some worries about speaking at an event, and linkages appearing on a few worrying sites (just remember your MKX days, Jenn, you did it once, you can do it again), the DOR was a success.

The show isn't over yet, though, I still need to adapt my speech into an article on the DOR for Prism, get permission for reprinting stuff on my site, and get entries from older DOR pieces avaiable for printing.

I'm also going to add a list of locations doing DOR events. The main site hasn't been updated yet with DOR events for 2007, and people were asking me if I knew where stuff was happening in their neighborhoods. Next year, I hope to have a listing, if the DOR page doesn't. I figure, if they're coming to me anyways, I might as well give it the college try.

Emily left Sunday on the first leg of her trip down to Texas, ferrying over to Vancouver into the capable hands of [livejournal.com profile] jessie_c and from there, via a late late bus into Seattle.

I was sick, and getting sicker. Just like last time....

Monday
I woke up to go get Emily. I wasn't feeling too hot but I couldn't just NOT get Emily. Dean also had the day off, so we decided to greet her together. Sadly, Dean was sick too.

I jumped into the shower to get a quick clean, when suddenly, five minutes into my shower the water died on me, in a quick panic, I drove to Austin, borrowed Dean's shower, and after a mix up at the airport, met up with my sweetie for the first time in several months.

Having her in a car with two sick people was prolly a very bad idea.

We ran off for a quick dinner at Thai Noodles Etc. House (yes, that's it true name), and spent the evening with Dean and Pook, and Canadian candy and TANDOORI DORITOS! After that, a nice trip home and sleep....

Tuesday and Wesdnesday
There wasn't much to these days. I was really incredibly ill, and couldn't do much. There was much sleeping, soughing, spitting and hacking. Worse, Emily began to start getting ill too. Well, at least were ill together. Wednesday Night I got a bit better. And where I slept, Emily just burned through her sickness, determining the problem with my truck tires, determining the problem with my truck door, determining the problem with my bike, and FIXING ALL OF IT.

Did I mention she vaccumed? She didn't need to do that. I didn't bring her down here to be a maid...but I was in no position to argue being flat on my back. :)

Thursday and Friday
I've gone to work both days, the entire department is hurting from sickness. Our evenings have been mostly quiet affairs, since it's late whne I get in. She has the days to herself with my bike (and my truck).

Oh! And after a scare from the City Hall about not wanting to take my application because my picture wasn't good and my name change papers were borked, I am the recipient of a brand spanking new passport. THE WORLD IS MY OYSTER!

And guess what? The company is now making it a requirement that we all have passports, and has decided to allow us to be reimbursed for the charges. Guess who is getting her money back?

Now, can I PLEASE be the PAcific Northwest Specialist?

Actually, I'll prolly be THE traveling tech, as we only have one tech with an honest to goodness passport for now....heaven help me.
