I've had two trusty...well...not trusty...duffel bags since I started working at The Job. They actually weren't very well made - I bought them for $1 a piece at a garage sale - and they were TV guide giveaway bags. Really naff looking vinyl things that began falling apart the minute I got them. But they lasted two years beofre finally crumbling away into Cheap Vinyl Dust.
I don't like shopping at Brick and Mortar places, so I browsed for a duffel bag online, saw one that had a high rating (and was moderately cheap) and bought it. Because I don't buy at brick and mortar places I've had my fair share of Bad Buys. If you can't see it first hand, there's a chance your going to get ripped off. It's happened to me WAY more that once.
Anyways, I got the duffel bag today, and I was rather worried at how small the package was. First the Amazon package was your standard sized package, about the size of a shoe box. I couldn't imagine a duffel bag fitting in there. When I opened the box and dug through all the advertisements (and my fifth Quatro Razor) I found a little tiny 5 inch x 7 inch x 1 inch package that said "Duffel Bag with free traveling tote." Rip off bells began to ring, and I dejectedly opened the package up. The little bag was just that - about 5x7, an inch thick. Looked decent for a makeup bag. Then I saw the sticker that said "Duffel bag inside." So I opened it up to get what was obviously going to be a tiny itty bitty duffel looking bag.
What I didn't realize was once I opened the tote - the darned thing exploded like an airbag. It went POOM, and suddenly - WOOSH - out flew (and I mean Contents Under High Pressure) kinda WOOSH this gigantic duffel bag. It's actually BIGGER than the cheapie TV Guide ones, much sturdier with leather shoulder straps and lots of pockets inside.
Holy cow - now if they could ship PEOPLE like that - imagine the cost savings! 1000 people on a Southwest 747! :D
