I have a very very specific response to Life Sucks. Walkabouts. Bike Rides. Road Trips. Fugues (minus the amensia). I Just Need to Get Away. Doesn't always need to be Life Sucks situations. Sometimes I just want a drive in the country, or to see something in particluar, or visit a town that I'd never noticed before (there are a few). Or even make a 100 mile round trip for a good dinner (www.royersroundtopcafe.com) and the best Cinnamon Rolls ever (www.weikels.com). Over the years (decades, now!) it's lead me to some interesting, beautiful and even dangerous places. Add to this my want to learn more about the history of places, and you have a walking talking encyclopedia of Texana.

This week has been a good deal of Life Sucks. But because of trying to save money, and the incredibly huge prices of gas, Roadtripping has kinda been cut back. The one I just did from here to New Braunfels and back just a few weeks ago was done only because I was suffering from a bad case of Cabin Fever.
Lately, this week, with the shift sleeping, and crap and the junk going on this last week, the roadtrip itch has been hitting me pretty hard. I can't afford it though, and even if I could, I'm wary of putting miles on the Truck that could be miles getting me to Seattle.
And that's when I realized I'd already done a "Long Walk Home" in Second Life, why not try a walkabout there? I've done two stress-relief walkabouts this week, seen some neat stuff...and you know? It works. I feel like I've GONE someplace, even if I'm just sitting at home pressing the UP key. It's no substitute for going out to the site of an old ghost town, but there's something about randomly running across a three story statue of Rosie the Robot. :)
Walkabout #1 Beeline from a lighthouse to my place.
Walkabout #2 Beeline from the North to my place.
Walkabout #3 Beeline from the East to my place.
Walkabout #4 Beeline from the West to my place.
I'm feeling much better now. It's been a bad week, but is getting manageable....
