CALLING ALL WRITERS

Remember this dream? About the girl who gets a wish that everyone gets their wish, and ends up havng to revert the world by getting 42 gems? No? Here's a refresher:

A young 8 year old blonde girl sits in a booth waiting for her food and her parents (who have wandered off doing parent things, I guess), kicking her seat. The waitress comes by to take their order, but finding no one there but the little girl asks her what she'd like.

"I want everyone in the world to be happy."

The waitress just giggles and says "That's a tall order. Maybe you should think a little less grand?"

"Okay, everyone in the diner gets their wish."

And oddly enought the waitress agrees. Poof, the 8 year old is now All Grown Up. The 42 people in the restaurant have dissapeared into about 20. And instead of a restaurant in a bustling big city, they're now in a clearing all dressed up like Ren-faire folks. Turns out everyone in the diner got their wishes. The girl wanted to grow up, someone else wanted the world to be all sword and sorcery, half the diner wanted to be somewhere else and were.

So the girl decides that this wish was a bad one and that things need to go back to normal. She wanders around till she finds a sorceress (the waitress), and the waitress tells her that in order to bring the world back to order, she needs to find 42 jewels, and place them on an iron plate the sroceress in making now. The only way to get a jewel is to get each of the 42 diners to recant their wishes, which will form a jewel.

However, one of the wishers, the Evil Guy Who Rules The World He Made doesn't want to go back to his life, so he kills the sorceress who boils away down to her bones. But only after making the girl a motorcycle she can ride around the world. And the skeleton can...well...still talk and move and give advice, so she takes it with her.

What if YOU wrote one of the 42 stories? Huh? What if YOU wrote about our heroine, trying to get people to give up their wishes? Think you can do it? Well, now you can.

I will write the 1st chapter of this story as well as a very loosely binding "series bible" for the stories. The rest is up to anyone who wishes to submit a story. Could be a whole chapter as short as "Hey, can I have your wish?" "Sure!" (please don't do this), or as long as War an Peace. You can even have her FAIL to get someone's wish (""Hey, can I have your wish?" "No!" (please do not do this also)). Because if she fails, I'll deal with it when I write Chapter 43, the end of the story. Comedy? Sure! Drama? Why not! Shakespearean Tragedy? BRING IT ON!

There will be some rules, but I'll put that into the Series Bible. (Like don't kill our heroine in Chapter 2)

The story will be posted on my website, a chapter at a time as they come in (or once a week if more than one comes in).

There are 41 slots open.

Who's in?

(Yes, I realize this is kind of a rip-off of McKenzee's Silver Bullets idea, but come on, it's a GOOD idea to steal!)

(also, due to some recent developments, I reserve the right not to accept any submissions or reject you as a possible writer, although this prolly won't happen)

I probably shouldn't make any promises, but I like this idea.

Do you want these in short story format or comic book script format? It sounds like the former from your description, but I wanted to make sure.

This will all be text, no comics., Although illustrations would be neat. But any format, as long as it's text.

So what happens if one of the wish'ers dies after getting the wish, or as a consequence of undo'ing the wish?

I'm still working out some of the logistics...but off thet op of my head, if the wisher dies AFTER getting the wish, and the wish has an effect that continues on after him ("I wish my son was a military genius") the wish would be transferred to the person or thing that was the subject of the wish. If the wisher's wish dies with the wisher ("I wish I was a military genius") the wish is over, the gem forms, and more than likely (and good story fodder) is hidden on the person, or is found and made into funerary jewelery.

I'd like to do this if I can find the time. Im currently trying to write my own story, but I might need something to fall back on if I hit a block. This does sound like it could be about anything.

Absolutely. IT really can be about anything.

I'd like to give it a try. No promises though - having enough difficulty getting my own stories current.

An obvious, self-serving idea jumps into my head: a Myalgic Encephalomyelitis patient wished to be completely healthy.

Not sure about my delivering, though. After all, I _am_ a Myalgic Encephalomyelitis patient...

Could be easier than generating more pages of _Tubular Brain_ though...

I've wrote extensive non-fiction, but never a fiction story that I thought would be worth a damn. Are you open to new fiction writers?
