[Error: unknown template qotd] I was the opposite sex from the moment I was born male.  I did something about it...much much happier now.

Its funny, I've read a lot of the responses and most males have said "'shya, right!" while most females have said "No more periods! Pee standing up!"

And yet, here I am. Born with male privilidge, the ability to pee standing up, not having any periods. And I'd give up my left....er, I'd give anything for one day...ONE DAY...of being a fully functioning XX chromosomed woman. Even if that day was on my period and I'd just had three gallons of lemon tea.

Hell, gave up a lot of that just getting as close as I can.

[livejournal.com profile] hurricane_amy once told me I wouldn't like being a woman. Steph, Julie, and numerous others, too. For them it usually all boiled down to "its too messy and painful." If I had a nickle for every female reproductive tract I'd been offered, I'd be dead (I got one offered just this morning!)

But for me, it boils down to "it's part of the experience." If that's what it took to be whole...I would glady walk into that furnace.

Golly, that's like when I won free tickets to a film for answering a radio shock jock's question of "If you could have plastic surgery for anything, what would it be?" !!!

Never really wanted to be the other sex. Interesting to think about, though.

Well I don't want to be the opposite sex now (I finally got legal status as female!) But before i did change (and to some degree now) the 'problems' of being a woman are so much easier to deal with for me than the problems I had trying to act like a male when I am not.

I'd like to think that, post-Singularity, it won't just be possible to have a body that allows one to shift genders more or less at will, it'll be fashionable.

That having been said, I wouldn't mind trying on a different set of chromosomes as long as I could change back in the morning.

I'd do it even without that last sentence. Actually, I hope Singularity comes soon - I think a lot of our problems we're having now will be solved (although a new set will no doubt show up), and things like body swapping/robot bodies/whatever will make life a lot easier.

I try hard not to be a Singularity Evangelist, but then I see people like yourself who are trying hard to cope with biological limitations; and I can't help but hope for the best.

May all of us someday be what it is in us to become.

Considering I spent the *entire day* yesterday curled up in a ball in excruciating pain, I'd give this thing way for free. (seriously, it should kind of be like donating organs~ waiting list and all)

I think you are who you are, and your experience is already whole even if you are a woman who cannot have periods.

As for standing to pee, isn't it much less comfortable than sitting down? The 'aiming' is just too hard to have to do every three hours every day!

I'm going to commit blasphemy and say I have no problems standing. Not a one. And it's damned convenient, to boot. :)

I'll miss it when I can't.

I want to invent a machine that lets folks donate body parts and flesh that they don't want that would then be used to help other folks achieve the gender and body type that they desire.

If we were truly free to be exactly what we wish to be, I'd be a hermaphrodite.

Heh. What struck me was how many people said they wanted to try swapping sex for a bit in the belief it would give them insight into the thoughts and desires of every single member of that sex.
