1. Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.
2. See if anybody else responds with "I've done that."
3. Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

1. Recieved Christmas Cards from Jackie Chan (around 1979-81, pre-US-Famousness)
2. Designed a Fiesta Flambeau/Battle of the Flowers parade float (at the age of 15!)
3. Imported anime directly off the air in Japan via penpals, in exchange for crappy American TV shows (the preferred method back in the 80s and early 90s, you know...my copies of Ranma still have commercials. ;) )

In the late 70s, Jackie Chan filmed a movie in San Antonio called "The Big Brawl." It was his first attempt into the American market. Because American movies have Union rules, the only people who could drive on movie sets were Teamsters. Dad was a pretty high ranking teamster and got a job with them as the camera truck driver for The Big Brawl and Honeysuckle Rose.

Because camera truck drivers are not allowed to leave the vicinity of the vehicle (don't want those cameras stolen), a lot of people would leave valuables with him, including the actual actors. On Honeysuckle Rose, he got to meet Willie Nelson (we have autographed pictures of him, and got to go to the wrap party at his Wimberley ranch), Diane Cannon and actually became friends with Slim Pickens (but only for the duration of the shoot). He even auditioned for the part of the taxi driver that drives Slim Pickens to the Mexico ranch that Willie's hiding out in , but didn't look Mexican enough.

During The Big Brawl, he got to meet Rosalin Chao and Jackie Chan (at least when the producer would let Jackie out of his sight). They weren't friends friends, but he would practice his English with my dad occasionally. Supposedly I met him too but I don't remember (I was 3 at the time...dad also says I may be in a shot of Honeysuckle Rose, but it was at the picnic thing at the end, which EVERYONE and their Uncle is in).

after the movie wrapped, dad got Christmas cards made out to all of us from him for three years. :)

I'd love to go up to him and say "Hey, I've loved your movies before anyone ever saw Rumble int he Bronx! and Dad says 'Hi!'"
