All things considered, in terms of screen time he actually had one of the longer runs as the Doctor. Pertwee matched him, and only Tom Baker exceeded him. It's a shame, but I can understand why he was ready to leave. Here's hoping the next Doctor is as good...
My problem with all this is they decide Dr. Who would run only a few shows this year because of Tennant's schedule. And now he decides he doesn't want to do it? shoul dhad him regenerate during Journey's End and started fresh with a whole new season.
Eh. Not too surprising, really. They usually head off after this long. Eccleston quitting after only one series was a schock, but this isn't.
And on the up side, it'll give Moffatt a much freer hand in setting up the feel of his era if he has a new Doctor to work with and can reshape the character's personality to suit his vision.
I wouldn't have been upset if Tennant came back for 2010, but I'm not particularly upset that he's leaving either.
