Just a heads up that I made it home, despite my road home being a sheet of ice.

Just gotta remember - creep uphill in second gear with no gas, and gear down the engine downhill, with no braking if possible..

Easy peasy. Its been a while, but I can still drive in ice and snow (at least when MOST of my trip is properly maintained).

I think what was most scary to drive in was that where I used to live, there are two hills with a hill grade of "no brakes = f*cked". If you ride a bike you wear out the breaks after a few trips. However the two neighbouring cities were "built into the hills" so to speak, and before they upgraded the highway to bypass it you had to go down this twisty windy, steep road, two hairpin turns, two lanes wide. Vancouver's roads are tame by comparison. Even the hilly ones.

Sheet of ice + hairpin turns + steep grade = wouldn't risk my life driving in it. One of many reasons I won't move east or any further north.
