Understatement of the Year
In case you've been hearing about the Great Seattle Snowstorm of 08, I'm okay and doing fine. In fact, I'm more than okay, mainly because I'm stuck in my apartment. I live in an area called Renton Hill, on Eagle Ridge, and while it's got some GREAT views of Renton and surroundings...I'm up on a hill. And then it starts to snow and the roads around me become a deathtrap. The snow isn't anything I hadn't dealt with in Pennsylvania - the thing is, PA actually WORKS on their roads instead of leaving everyone stranded.

24% grade:

This parked car was hit by someone who lost control of their car as it slid down the hill.
18% grade:

The solid sheet of ice that is the hill down to Benson.
9% grade:

This car couldn't make it up the 18% grade hill going forward, so the guy did a 180, and drove it backwards all the way up the hill, going up just a LITTLE more than he was sliding down. Last we saw of him, he was stuck not too far from this spot.
As you can see - deathtrap.
There was some fun to be had though. I called in to work today, as my poor poor truck doesn't handle snow all too well (we got by in PA, but Seattle's hills make PA look flat) Lots of snowballs being thrown, snowmen nearly being made (note to self - don't try to make a snowman without some kind of glove), long romantic walks in the crunchy crunchy snow, and being bundled up with Emily in the warm apartment, it's been a great little day.
