Today was a fun fun fun fun day, without actually doing too much.

Woke up about 11AM, a nine hour sleep. I needed it. My legs HURT from all that walking yesterday at the Ren Faire. I cleaned up the library (it needed it) and watched Muppets from Space.

I didn't realize that the shrimp from Long John Silvers was an actual muppet from that movie. However, I will continue in my belief that the LJS shrimp is actually a shrimp that survived it's being battered and fried and was given it's job as spokeshrimp to keep him from litigating LJS.

I IMed Syleniel today, too, asking her about Ren Faire. She didn't seem mad at me in the slightest, was actually kinda glad to hear from me if I interpreted her ASCII right. Nice to see that I didn't burn ALL the bridges. I'll give 'em notice when I move back.

Muppets from Space is good. I love the muppets. But only when they're being the muppets. I didn't like Muppet Treasure Island, or the Great Muppet Caper, but thought that The Muppet Movie and Muppets Take Manhattan were EXCELLENT. When the muppets are muppets, you can get away with all sorts of stuff. And they're funnier.

Sean and Andy got home before the end, so I bonded with the little one for a while. After the movie, we played Mario Kart 64. FUN game...then we played a Harry Potter version of Clue. Also a fun game. One of my weaknesses is to put a game in front of me - I will (9 times outta 10) dive into it.

Andy and I bonded as well, mostly over the Space Shuttle and Spacey things. I was gonna go out and see if I could see it flying overhead (the path seems to take it over Austin) but...well...I forgot about it. Oops. But I did get a cool program that allows you to see all the telemetry data and stuff so that I can plot the shuttle next time it flies around.

Marca and I bonded for a few minutes over how we view stories. When I go to a movie or read a book, I see it as someone telling me a story. When I see a movie, I see how the story was translated for the screen. I see the special effects, and the narrative and acting and all that together presents me with a story. For her, she literally gets swept INTO the story. As much as I'd like to, I can't do that. Even when I write for my own stuff, I'm never part of the story. My characters "tell" me the story.

Erin came in late, and we talked for some time, mostly over annoying certain people. :)

All in all, this was a definite good non-action kinda day. I bond with these friends more than I can with my own family...and today was a FUN day.

These friends are my family. I don't know who lives at my parent's house anymore.

Tomorrow - back to the Styx Hotel. Meh.

I used to go to rennie faires all the time. There's one not far from here, in Sterling NY. I put together a cute lil wench outfit and I used to go at least once a summer, sometimes twice! But now it's like $18 to walk in the gate, and there are SO many more people now than there were years ago when I went ... it's insane that a single afternoon can cost two people close to $100! It's become more of a marketplace than a village festival (the original premise of the Sterling faire), which makes me sad. Steve and I went to the faire almost three years ago, and he almost proposed to me there. He likes the fact that if he had the right hat and costume, he'd make a really good King Henry. :D
I'm glad you got a chance to get out of the house and hang out with friends. That's awesome. :)

I kinda went into this with my Sci-Fi Convention Mentality. "You're paying to get in so you can pay some more."

This was was definately more marketplace than festival, but it was very nice. Very much like the Arts Fest in State College with swords and wings. :)

A REn Faire proposals would have been VERY VERY VERY cool. :) The one I go to advertises REn Faire marriages, which I think would be pretty cool as well!
