The formerly offensively-named trans festival has been successfully renamed Gender Euphoria Day. :)

Woot! And furthermore...

Not Happy:

Of course it's not happy, it's not connected to its friends Engine and Driveshaft. How can you be happy when you're unemployed?

Alcohol? :)

It's Closetspace in mechanical form. No wonder Allison is unhappy being trans - she's a giant chunk of metal! One wonders how she can play videogames that way, though.

Glad someone noticed that. Figured it might be you. ;-)

I'd be unhappy with my surgery too if I woke up from my SRS date with that installed.

Still, I bet the fuel efficiency ROCKS.

When I voted, I asked them in comments if an African-American festival would be called Happy N***** Day. :)

I said something similar to that only I asked if a Gay pride rally should be called F****t fest.

I guess they got the message :)

I said the same thing to their faces at previous meetings, to no effect whatsoever. The only thing that counted in this case was sheer numbers, three to one against the previous name.

As did Jenn.

This is a good thing.

I think Gender Euphoria Day is a much better choice.

Gender Euphoria sounds like a word I have to appropriate sometime.

Then how come we still have this page (http://www.2010vancouver.ca/yesterday-was-happy-tranny-day-in-vancouver-019018.php) (or have I got the wrong city)? Trouble with the title, is the same trouble with this page (http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/t/tranny.asp). Or to be clearer:

That page was about last year's festival which indeed had the offensive name. I joined the steering committee too late to register my objections in any meaningful way last year, but I set the goal to have it changed before this year's festival got underway. And I did it :)

So why does it have a 2010 date on it?
Or am I misreading the page?

GENDER EUPHORIA is an ideal title, and I am really glad you got changed.

The 2010 date is for the main site which is hyping promoting all things Vancouver for the Olympics.

Well considering the name change, it might be time to get that web page changed too.
