Our fear of zombies is our fear of other people. When people laugh at zombies, they laugh at their own fear of others. When they zombie-walk, they're saying, "Hey, look, I don't have to be scared of you, because I'm scary, too."

Zombies are a very, very old fantasy. I think the appeal of is kind of self-evident: you're getting a dead loved one back! It's a great place to start a story because you could create a "ticking clock" hook (Pushing Daisies) or a "wasting away" hook (Death Becomes Her) or a "loss of mental function" hook (Shaun Of The Dead) or a "miracle" hook (Jesus) or a "curse" hook (Pirates Of The Caribbean) or whatever you like.

what you see in most Hollywood zombie movies aren't zombies anyway. That annoys me more then anything else about it.

When a zombie bites you the worst that would happen is you would get infection where it bit due to possible bacteria, but nothing that a shot of penicillin wouldn't clear right up.

I don't get the zombie thing either. However, the few friends I know who are into zombies tell me that the appeal is that you can gleefully blow a zombies head off and everyone will cheer.

I don't get zombies or vampires...or horror flicks in general. I don't really get Halloween, either. I usually don't watch anything scarier than "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" at this time of year.

The weird thing is I think Zombie are awesome...but for the life of me I cannot think of a reason why. I've just always loved freaky stuff like vampires (real vampires not that Twilight bs) and zombies and tv shows like Buffy and Supernatural. It's kinda like a neo-romantacism movement, which was the first time people really became obsessed with the macabre and gothic themes.
