Woke up from a terrible dream, unable to breathe a few minutes ago. Then I tried to talk - nothing but low growls, pops and squeaks. Not doing a half day today.
I get "sessions" like that too, where my language seems distorted or absent. Best remedy I had (but remember, I'm on a disability allowance) was to have a nap if possible, and just wait it out.
If it's connected to your sinus issues, I get sinus crap as the seasons change and about once every three months it's as bad as you describe. My remedy:
Go to the drugstore and get some Sudafed. You need to ask for it at the pharmacy but it's not expensive or anything, and no prescriptions needed. While you're out, pick up some OJ and a stockpile of your favorite *clear* beverages and some lemon tea. Instant chicken or miso soup also help. If you have advil, that will help too.
Take 2 sudafed right away, have an entire liter of water (you're gonna need it) and then use whatever free time you have to slam down as much clear liquid, OJ and soup as you can. Keep it coming in a steady stream. Take a hot, steaming shower at least twice, and clear your sinuses in the shower (yeah, it's gross).
If you don't have a full day off in which to do this, do as much as you can in the morning, and keep drinking lots of fluids all day.
Don't take more than 4 sudafed a day, use the advil as needed to keep down sinus pain, and keep getting your fluids.
Back before I developed this routine, my sinus problems would lead to infections and lay me up for weeks on end (literally).
I hope I'm not coming off as pushy here -- I'd just really hate to see you lose AwesomeJob.
Nah, it's good advice, and better than my "keep taking Sucretes until you can't feel your entire resperatory system anymore" plan.
This is prolly the worst sickness I've ever had this side of flu. I woke up one morning and it hurt to breathe at all. I'm a lot better now, but it still hurts to talk or breathe deeply.
