We got within either 1.9 miles (taking the road including all the switchbacks) or 1.1 miles (making a beeline up the hills) of seeing it - probably do-able on foot if we'd had hiking boots and/or I hadn't needed to be back in Blaine by 9 pm. (As is we walked 0.8 miles each way.) Boo, but at the same time, yay: eight foot snowbanks in mid-July!
