There's a fine line between being an activist, and being a dick.

Yes, being a dick can be activism. But the sign of a good activist is knowing when it is proper to be an activist, and proper to be a dick.

It sad how many go straight to being a dick.

Truer words have not yet been spoken. Met a number of dicks at the queer student conference I went to at the start of the month.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I've sat here for five minutes trying to parse that comment out. Are they saying you should be listed as a victim? But ... you're not dead. *confused*

Unfortunately, what they're saying is that they wish she was dead.

Pretty disgusting, actually, and the kind of shit that instantly causes those listening to disregard the speaker... and if they're not careful, their message as well.

Unbelievable.

And you're right - with a mouth that throws crap like that out there, who's gonna stick around to hear anything else?

one problem a lot of activists have is they tend to go way too far too easily and this usually has the opposite effect then the one they are trying to go for.

Being in your face is good, but remember to speak to your specific audience or they will completely ignore your message in favor of thinking "screw you!" and while making them mad might be a good idea sometimes, you don't want your message getting lost in it.

Duuuuhhhhh

Wow- I completely misread that one! (thanks, drkbsh) What an appalling thing to say!

The remark is totally unjustified. It would be inappropriate even if you actively boycotted the DOR.

No, you should NOT be on the DOR. The whole point is that NO ONE should be. To wish anyone on it is to completely negate its intent.

Don't let the b**tards wear you down.

Gobsmacked

I just don't understand how anyone could say that to another person. I'm just plain appalled. What the hell could they possibly be advocating for that this is their message?!

A lot of it is culture unfortunately. Mean culture. I pretty much have no expectation except for peoples language and vulgarity to get worse that we won't even recognize english anymore in 30 years.

The lack of civility is getting ridiculous these days. I don't think it'll be long before being consienous'll be passé.
