Date: 2002-06-09 01:52 pm (UTC)Originally, it was a site that allowed you to ask sage wisdom from computer generated philosophers like Ayn Rand, Charles Darwin, Aristotle, Kurt Goedel and the like. Eventually, though, it slid WAY into silliness by adding computer generated personas of people like Darth Vader, Bob Dole, Clinton, Frank Gifford, The Spice Girls, N'Sync, Beavis and Butthead, Barbie and became VERY VERY VERY silly (Ayn became even more of a bitch, Michael Jackson was a pedophile, Barbie became a mathematics genuis that said "Math is hard" ever chance she got, Dole humped everything that moved (As did Clinton and Gifford)).
They also Had Forum 1900, where the Y2K bug hit the forum...and that was hilarious.
In actuality, it never really was a computer simulation...it was actually some Carnegie Mellon University students in a virtual chat. Once that became general knowledge, it got even MORE silly.
The site is gone, but I personally LOVED it.
