My monthly bills:

Minimum Payment on Dead Credit Card: $65
Rent: $500
Utilities: $125 (Estimated)
Medicines: $375 (Estimated, assumes no reimursement)
Groceries: $400 (Estimated)

$350 I have to put aside each paycheck to pay it off.

I make $430 a paycheck. That's $80 a week for any non-necessary stuff.

Gonna be a tight year.

I don't see your vehicle expenses listed.

400$ in Groceries? O.o what do you buy?

Groceries are hideously expensive where we live (I'm driving down to Renton to save money). On top of that my diet has had to change from "Ramen a million times a week" to "Balanced but expensive diet that your Diabetes forces you to be on."

My grocery list usually is:

1) 7 pounds of some kind of beef
2) 7 bags of salad
3) 7 types of three fruits (usually apples, oranges and peaches or water melon chunks).
4) Various stuff I need around the house that week.

I usually run between $80 and $120 per week. This is akin to $60-$80 I spent in Texas.

As for vehicle expenses...I fogot about that, which officially puts me spending more money per month than I make.

hmm, well the salad and fruit is still out of season... here. But it's cheaper to not get the pre-processed stuff... but it goes bad much faster.

My grocery's are like:
1) Rice ( 1 cup = 18% a days calories)
2) Frozen Chicken (2 = half a days calories)
3) Frozen Fake Chicken (Soy based, 2 = half a days nutrients)
4) Orange juice (10%)
5) Cheese (no idea :p )
6) Wraps for the cheese (10%)+ (other)

I have a bad habit of buying the cheese, wraps and whatever else I put in them in separate trips, so one inevitably goes bad before I use all of it up.

I primarily only look at the carbohydrates/sugars and sodium. It's okay to get too much water soluable vitamins, cause anything unused is just lost anyway. Items 2 3 and 5 are around 15-20$/ea. I go shopping every 2-7 days, usually once one item on the list is used up.

What you need, is to live closer to the grocery store, walk there, and only buy what you can carry. (That's pretty much how I've been shopping since 2004.) Gives an excuse for exercise :D but I know how things are in the US with having to drive just about everywhere.

It's funny, but we just moved FROM a place where we'd walk to the grocery store. :)

But I can walk to work now. :D

Walking to work is a better win than walking for groceries.
