MARY MAGDALENE
Try not to get worried. Try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you, oh.
Don't you know
Everything's all right, yes, everything's fine.

JESUS
And I think I shall sleep well tonight.
Let the world turn without me tonight.

MARY MAGDALENE
Close your eyes. Close your eyes,
And forget all about us tonight.

What a very nice mini-vacation. Tuesday evening I went home to pick up some cash, my truck registration and groceries. I was only going to stay the evening, and come back that night. But in a move of pure sweetness from my father, he took Wednesday off to see me.

My father is a sweet sweet man, and all my friends agree. They all love the big ole Ewok dearly. That evening, we set up the basics for my room, rerouting the TV cable into my sisters old room (she inherited my room when I moved out years ago), and just in general getting stuff together. She treated me to the steak and onions I had been craving. Ah, I haven't eaten like that in weeks - Steak, Onions, Mashed Potatoes, Big Salad, Fruit Salad. WOW. I pigged out. Tasty, tasty. About 3AM my dad came home from work, and it was good to see him. I finished my steak with him and he headed off to bed. It's always good to see that man. I went to bed about 5AM after rediscovering "Freakazoid!" Ever see Freakazoid? IT's like Animaniacs on acid. I want whatever they were on, and I want it now.

Next afternoon. I got up, got myself prettied up and went to go see Steph. Steph and I go way back, almost ten years now, and I consider her one of my close sisters. We hung around with her sister Kimberly and looked at pictures of their trip to Washington DC, and showed off my Game Boy Advance (Steph was the one who hooked me on Street Fighter all those years ago). We talked about our families, and our lives. She's really happy to have me back in town, even if it's because I couldn't find a job. Emily is getting so big....

Some minor strife. We were going to the retirement party for my cousin, who is retiring from the military. Unfortunately, I'm still a bit of a black sheep, and my dad and mom felt very uncomfortable with me going to the party. My family doesn't take to non-heterosexual types of any sex very well...and this would be the first party I went to since coming out. They politely asked for me to stay behind. I was a little hurt at first, but I realized that there will be plenty of time to reintegrate myself back into the larger family. And if they don't want me, there's little I can do to persuade them otherwise. But for right now, I wanted my family to be happy, so they went on to the party while I busied myself with a good Chinese dinner, and a romp down memory lane in San Antonio.

I went to one of the arcades I used to go to in my heyday, and watched two guys strut their stuff on Dance! Dance! Revolution! What a silly game, but it sure makes you look good if you do it right! I played a few rounds of Capcom vs SNK and Mortal Kombat 4.

Then I visited all the apartments I delivered papers to. Such a good time, and only just six years ago. I miss the town..

I got home, watched my sister's new version of Jesus Christ Superstar (one of my fave rock operas). It's cute, this 90s Teenagers versus Roman/Jewish Corporation version, but it wasn't as powerful as the 70s Hippies versus Roman/Jewish Paramilitary force. Plus Pilate was way too evil in this...in the version I have, he was almost tender. Judas was just plain evil in the one I watched, where in the version I have, he really was looking out for his organization. Gimmie the 70s version any day. Ted Neely makes a perfect Jesus. :) I did like how Judas and JEsus had their moments after he's turned into the Romans. Judas is sorry, and Jesus forgives him. Repeatedly. I like this. A lot.

The shock of the day. Mom bought me a blouse. WOW. It may not mean much to you, but to me, it means our relationship has thawed quite a bit

Went to bed after Freakazoid. HUGBEES!

I'm glad I didn't dream that night. One can only imagine what Jesus Christ Superstar+Freakazoid! would have stirred up in my brain.

I planned to leave first thing when I woke up today, but I got my wish for rain. IN BUCKETS. San Antonio got over 12 inches of rain in 24 hours. The city was flooded. Again. We went out to get some shoes for me (they didn't have the canvas shoes I'd been looking for) and then ran over to Kinko's to print up a few copies of some pictures I scanned and cleaned up for Mom. Took a picture that was almost pure black and made a semi-decent picture out of it.

WE grabbed a bite to eat at a nice seafood restaurant, and then proceeded to take the 15 minute drive home. Which became 30 minute. Which became an hour. Then an hour and a half. The most direct route home is right in the path of LEon creek, and two main roads cross this creek. No way in heck am I EVER going to cross those creeks with even a LIGHT drizzle. That creek is DANGEROUS. All traffic was diverted to Bandera Road. And that's nearly everyone in the northwest corner of the city on one road with a bridge. Accidents everywhere, and a very intense high water rescue on TV.

I managed to leave the house for Austin at 8PM. I don't know what the heck came over me, but I had to pull over a few times because I was on the verge of falling asleep. For no reason whatsoever. I got home and I was wide awake. The truck made a weird noise on the way up, I got worried I had a flat, but didn't. Hope it's okay. Maybe the muffler came undone (they welded it, I don't see how it could fail).

And here we are. A few days later, and enjoying my vacation. I was so happy to see my family, and have them embrace me back into the fold. More so than ever before.

THEY LIKE ME! THEY REALLY LIKE ME!
