Woke up and realized the Dean did not come over. He decided that the Flash Flood Watch was a bad thing and he wouldn't come over...well...while I don't blame him - there really wasn't any rain. And there really wasn't going to be any.
So off I went to Austin. Got there and we immediately took off for Hyde Park.
Particularly the Avenue B Grocery store.
Wow.
This place has been running since at least the 1920s as a small town grocery store. Sells sammiches on the side, and off brand cool stuff. I had a bottled Cherry Limeade drink. I didn't think anyone bottled them there. I soaked in the history and talked with the proprietor about history. bought a book about the history of Hyde PArk that I plan to Devour...er, read in the next few weeks.
FRom there we hit downtown Hyde PArk and took pictures for the folks in Pennsylvania.
After that, we toured South Austin, which Dean had been wanting to see for a while. Down Lamar, up Lamar, down 1st Street, Up Manchaca. Yay.
We hit the snow cone shop at 51st and Airport andI had the COOLEST Chocolate Covered Cherries snow cone I've ever had. Dean had the Bananafudgsicle and it was MIGHTY tasty. Good stuff.
From there we suffered from sleepiness and decided REAL food was what was needed. Back to Hyde PArk - to the Bar and Grill, which was a nice place. Loud and fabulous, but nice. I had Artichoke Hearts for the first time - bitter, but good. They also had PICKLED GINGER SALAD DRESSING. Will wonders never cease - I LOVE pickled Ginger.
've had better food, though - and I don't think Id head back to HP Bar and Grill anytime soon.
From there we went home...I'm missing a few tapes, because I couldn't find a bunch of my Sealab tapes and the Sam Waterson Robot Insurance sketch that we're looking for. Good day had by all.

Nothing happened today - I just laid back and enjoyed the day. :)
