Yesterday's Sir/Ma'am ass:
Me: "How can I help you today?"
Caller: "Well, sir, you see I have a suspended transaction I need to clear out."
M: "That's Ma'am."
C: "Yes, sir."
M: "That's Ma'am."
C: "Yes, sir."
M: "That's Ma'am."
C: "Yes, sir...oh, I'm sorry!"
M: "That's okay, I get it a lot. I'll get that cleared up for you."
C: "Yes, sir."

I had a very good heart to heart with several friends last night. One who had something to tell me but couldn't. Another who just needed a hug or two after a bad night.

It's amazing how you can never see how strong you yourself are till someone tells you straight up. Maybe it was growing up with a Narcissist who took credit for everything Good I did, but I don't give myself enough credit.

One conversation started out as "I'm not a pretty transperson." And she's gorgeous. And instead of smacking her upside the head and saying "GET OVER IT" I said something along the lines of "Well, stand next to me, and you'll be all the prettier." Of course she replied "Don't beat yourself up like that."

I tried to turn the conversation on it's head with a little reverse psychology, but after an hour, I realized the it had turned on MY head as well. It took someone trying to convince me I was better than them to point out X Y and Z and that I'm better than I think I am.

I really should give myself more credit than I do...it's just hard to break that "You're nothing without me, and I'm responsible for all the good in your life" programming.

Go get the Tommy DVD, scan to 1:23:40 and watch as this poor girl nearly gets smacked in the face four times by a flying guitar. Poor thing, she's really afraid this kid is gonna hit her. He almost does. :)
