Hi everyone, join us for our annual holiday party this Sunday, Dec. 18. It's the Comics Jam Christmas Special and it'll be a laid back afternoon featuring our famous comics jam, free food and tons of Super Happy Fun.
As an added treat, Jenn Dolari (www.dolari.org), creator of the webcomics Closet Space and A Wish For Wings, will be joining us from Austin. Jenn was unable to make it to the Comix and Zine Festival last month, but now you have a chance to join her for a very rare Houston appearance.
This will also be a great opportunity to find Super Happy Fun Holiday gifts. Try a Super Happy Fun Land t-shirt or one of one of Olivia's famous sock creatures (www.flufftv.com). SHFL also has a great selection of minicomics available for sale. Publications by many of your favorite comix jammers are represented. This week only, the Houston Area Comics Society will also be selling various comics, books, toys etc. Nothing on our table will be over five dollars.
And for those of you on extremely serious budgets, the latest issue of Rob Block's zine, the Alarm is available for free at SHFL and makes a great stucking stuffer.
You can also get a free Houston Comix and Zine Festival t-shirt (a great way to let your out-of-town friends know what they are missing). Just bring any blank shirt and you can transfer the design from the screen onto your own shirt with the help of silk screen diva Olivia.
And did I mention that we will also have our regularly scheduled comics jam? It's a fun interactive, collaborative, comics, project thingie. You don't have to be an artist to participate. Come one. Come all.
If you haven't been in a while, here is your chance to get back in the flow and if you've never been to a comics jam, this is a great time to start.
That's this Sunday, December 18, 2-6 pm at Super Happy Fun Land, 2610 Ashland in the Heights (www.superhappyfunland.com).
Hope to see you there
