Woke up this morning with a start to the refridgerator repair guy AGAIN. I didn't get much sleep so I was really kind of out of it. He comes in to fix the fridge and replaced the piping that was giving the fridge so many problems. However, another problem came up - the freezer motor was siezed up. So he went to open the freezer's back panel...

Possibly Squicky )

Meedless to say, our fridge is still dead. And the guy left the panel open specifically so we could grab our landlord by the nose and point him to the fridge and say: LOOK. LOOK HERE. THIS IS WHY WE NEED A NEW FRIDGE. DAMMIT.

With that over, it came time to pick up something I'd been looking forward to for the whole weekend:

They turned out BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely gorgeous! The colors are really rich, and the banding wasn't the problem I thought it was going to be. Again, like the prints I made for Trinoc, I got this incredibly proud feeling of "I MADE THIS. THIS IS MINE. WOW." I have my poster sitting over in the corner, and I keep looking back at it. IT's a nice feeling, to know that it got made.

From there, we went to the apartment (after FOUR, COUNT THEM, FOUR near misses between Burnet Road and Great Hills Trail!). We finished up the packing, cleaned house, and I bid goodbye to my room. I really felt warm and welcome there, and it was a shame to leave.

Once here we unpacked, and I went about fixing my computer. The computer problems went from bad to worse yesterday. I disassembled the computer, epoxied the heatsink to the 845 chip no problem. But when I went to put the motherboard back in, one screw went in crooked and refused to pull out. I managed to get it out but when I used a new screw to screw it back in, it went right in, no problems...then the head twisted right off. EEK. Then as I was pulling the motherboard out, the edge of the board caught the chassis fan. The fan is held on by four rubber "nails." They promptly ripped in half.

So tonight, I managed to replace the motherboard mounting screw, but stripped my fingers of flesh trying to get some of those plastic ties to hold the fan in place. They're doing quite well, and should hold up for a good while.

And whoever thought that designing the front panel plugs as individual one-pin sockets needs to be shot.

I will be in San Antonio tomorrow, so there may not be a comic. If I can make one, I will, but no promises.

And now we're here. Bedtime for Jenn Jenn. I'll try to get those posters out Friday.

Kinko's actually did mess up my order somewhat. They only printed 9 out of the 10 posters I needed. One quick call, and the guy behind the counter straight up says "Sure, we'll print out the tenth poster, sorry about that." No inquisition, no paperwork, no scrutininzing the order. Just straight up "Sure."

I just got back. They not only printed the one poster I needed, but threw in a second one! Then, when I decide to put them in the envelope with the other 9 prints, I find out they don't fit. THESE two prints are 22x24!!!

While they were printed from an existing "rip image" and there are now more artifacts on the poster than there should be (A stripe of white glow over Andrea's eyes), I think the size and extra print MORE than make up for it.
