I've been grumpy all day. I REALLY wanted to go to the Moviegasm. Towards the end of my shift, though, I started thinking - "Hey, they go on all night...go anyways. It'll only be a few hours, but you usually turn the lights out at these parties anyways."
My shift ends at 8PM...I don't get out till 9. Won't get there till 10. Still, there's stuff going on at that time. Let's go.
Then I start hearing it. The gentle tapping sound of....

...sleet. In April. In South Central Texas. And just as I'm leaving. I live a third of a mile away - by the time I get to home, the truck is covered in this.
This has gone from a "Coworkers ganging up on me to keep me here on the 7th" situation to one where "GOD HIMSELF HAS COMMANDED THE SKIES TO OPEN AND DENY YOU THIS DAY! NEPTUNE! RELEASE THE KRAKEN!"
I'm so going to talk to him about this next staff meeting. Get home safe, everyone.
For the weather geeks, and I know you're out there:
Statement as of 2:15 PM CDT on April 07, 2007
... Freeze warning in effect from 8 PM this evening to 8 am CDT
Sunday...
The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a
freeze warning... which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to
8 am CDT Sunday.
Temperatures in the mid and upper 30s across The Hill Country and much
of south central Texas will warm little the rest of this afternoon.
Therefore a freeze warning has been issued as temperatures will dip
to at or just below freezing overnight. Tender vegetation will be
most susceptible to the near freezing temperatures. Pets should
also be brought indoors or given adequate protection from the
elements.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or
highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive
vegetation that are not provided with extra protection.
