Press to MECO
Oct. 23rd, 2007 08:13 pmDo you want to know what one of the most amazing sights in the world is? It's watching Nasa TV all day long, and watching the Shuttle's live feeds from 160 miles above the earth. (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html)
Then hearing that the Shuttle AND ISS are supposed to be going over Texas. In five minutes.
Then going outside and looking to the Northwest, and seeeing a star wink into existence, fly by faster than any plane you've ever seen up that high, and then redshift as it goes into the Earth's shadow. Then seeing it happen again as Discovery chases it down.
There're two people waiting in that first star. There's seven sleeping folks in that second star.
May not sound like much - but for me, it's an amazing experience. I'd never seen them before.
http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/index.html - this will tell you when the Shuttle/ISS/HST is visible from your area.
The last few days, I've had that feeling of wanting to get something off my chest, or exorcize some demons...but I can't for the life of me figure it out what I'm supposed to get off my chest....
It'll come to me.
