Do you want to know what one of the most amazing sights in the world is? It's watching Nasa TV all day long, and watching the Shuttle's live feeds from 160 miles above the earth. (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/live_tv.html)

Then hearing that the Shuttle AND ISS are supposed to be going over Texas. In five minutes.

Then going outside and looking to the Northwest, and seeeing a star wink into existence, fly by faster than any plane you've ever seen up that high, and then redshift as it goes into the Earth's shadow. Then seeing it happen again as Discovery chases it down.

There're two people waiting in that first star. There's seven sleeping folks in that second star.

May not sound like much - but for me, it's an amazing experience. I'd never seen them before.

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/index.html - this will tell you when the Shuttle/ISS/HST is visible from your area.

The last few days, I've had that feeling of wanting to get something off my chest, or exorcize some demons...but I can't for the life of me figure it out what I'm supposed to get off my chest....

It'll come to me.

That so rarely happens over here that I've never seen it. The ISS' orbit is too far South and most times the shuttle's been over by itself it's been raining (go figure). National Geographic's book Orbit has a really dramatic picture of the shuttle's fin superimposed over Vancouver but it was daytime so I wouldn't have seen anything even if I'd known when to look : (

It's something special to look up and see a satelite. It must be incredible to see something you know someone's flying.

I do hope that things come to clarity for you soon -- maybe dreams?

My dreams are almost never symbolic. They're very storytelly. In fact, some of them form the basis for the stories I plan to tell.

I've seen the ISS a few times when i hung out with a space nerd who always knew when it was going over :) It was really cool, don't think i've seen anything quite so amazing. Knowing there's a bunch of guys up there that our tax dollars helped put up there? It rocks. Gives you a bit of perspective.

That ... is SO COOL. OMG. Steve would soil himself if he could see BOTH the shuttle and the ISS. (He is a bona fide NASA TV addict.)
