Thanks to everyone (EVERYONE - I didn't expect that many replies!) for figuring out what that thing was (survey says, HEATER VALVE!). The good news, it's a cheap easy fix. The bad news, I can't do it, not till next paycheck. I have enough water in the back of the truck in jugs to fill up the cooling system twice over, so even if I lose EVERYTHING in one trip to the Park and Ride, I can still get home.

That said, it looks like I'm going to get it fixed Saturday. While talking with my dad while trying to determine what the part was, he offered TO FLY TO SEATTLE AND FIX IT.

You see, my mom worked for an airline and retired with full benefits - including FREE AIRFARE. My dad gets those benefits. And from what I'm hearing, he's taking full advantage of them. He flew to Santa Fe last week - TO BUY A HAT.

So, after figuring out it was the heater valve, he's offered to pick one up in San Antonio (including hoses), fly up here, and install it himself (with Emily, who will be coming down for that weekend as well, DHS permitting) over the weekend. I'm hoping the weather will be nice, and we can at least show him Mt. Rainier while he's here. I won't have money to show him much else.

Have I mentioned I love my dad?

Thank you all again for all your help, everyone. :)

After waking up and finding me in a better state of mind, I called my dad about his trip up here. Now that I was a tad more sensible, it felt kinda silly flying him up here for what amounted to a quick and easy repair.

He kinda sounded disenheartened, and I asked him if everything was okay. "Well...I kind of like flying whenever and whereever I want to go."

He'll be here Saturday. :)
