...and I'm actually sleepy when I need to be asleep? Wonder of wonders!

The medical bills are still kicking my ass, and my yearly layoff coming down in two months, I've decided to knuckle down and save by cancelling my roadtripping plans for the rest of this year. Which kind of sucks because I really didnt roadtrip much at all this year.

At this point, there's only last non-hospital bill to pay, and should be paid off next week. That still leaves various follow up bills, $200 in meds a month and $125 for the hospital payment. Add $500 for rent, $125 for utilities and $100 for groceries a week and you have $1350 in bills every month.

Leaves me with $85 a week folding money, usually going to pop-up medical bills. You can see why things are strained.

That isnt to say I'm not doing anything.

The tunnel trip was a lot of fun and very exercizing and scenic. And not far away at all. And, its in one of the few areas (Snoqualmie/North Bend) that I absolutely adore. So I'm going to start heading out that way every weekend and exploring that area specifically.

I'll be heading out to the tunnel again next Thursday or Friday, and this time I'm bringing the bike. The bike path is nearly dead flat through the mountains, and would be good for getting my bike stamina back up, especially 70 pounds lighter.

Other weekends I'll explore the forest roads, especially since I have both a Washington State Park Pass and US Forest Park pass.

Who knows. Maybe one day I'll even climb Mt Sai.

Snoqualmie. I came for the Twin Peaks. I stayed for the beauty.

It'll be rough money wise, and even this is a bit pricey, but doable.

Boogers. King County has a mandatory bike helmet law, and I don't wear one, so biking is out.

Yes, they're good ideas.
Yes, they save lives.
No, you shouldn't force me to wear one when I understand the risks and am willing to take them.

But my main reason is I absolutely can't stand thing covering my head like hats, hoods or veils. I love biking, but wearing a helmet, to me, is like going on a hike with a shoe full of pebbles.

I also don't like nanny laws. I know the risks of biking without a helmet, but don't force me to wear them. I know the risk of driving without seat belts, but don't force me to wear them.

And for what its worth, I'd wear seat belts even if they weren't the law. They don't bother me one whit, and are good ideas.
