"We'll just have to agree to disagree" means I like you more than I want to argue with you. It doesn't mean "Is that ALL you got?"

Copied a file over to my linux desktop. Next thing I know everything in the home directory is gone. Lots gone. Whole lot. In a bit of shock.

So what killed my data was opening a root file window as a non-root user. Opening it caused my root directory to wipe itself out not once, but twice. Thankfully, I lucked out - I'd copied everything to another drive the last time I installed ArchLinux (two days ago), and ntfsundelete was able to find those files on another drive. I should get everything back.

That shouldn't have happened, though - I think my install is borked. Gonna reinstall it again tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm pulling as many files as I can muster off that drive so I can get my stuff back.,

I am having a REALLY shitty night.

Apparently got all if not more of my data back. Seems ntfsundelete will grab ANY deleted file whose data remains on the HDD, no matter how old. I've got stuff back from 2012. O_o;
