When San Francisco legalized Gay Marriage in 2004, I felt it was 20 years too early, and the backlash would actually make it HARDER to legalize it in other states.

I'm happy to say I was wrong.

And there goes San Antonio. I never EVER thought I'd see that happen in that town.... :)

The one thing I keep seeing from the other side is how "five unelected judges are undermining an elected decision."

Want to know why those judges aren't elected? Because what's popular isn't always what's right. A judge must make a decision based on what is fair, not what is the majority opinion. And to get elected, you gotta promise the majority a whole lot.

I was not happy with the Citizens United decision. I feel it is wrong. But however they decided it's now the law of the land. And I'm still okay with them being unelected.

We've won a huge victory today, and there are celebrations all over the country. Party hearty. We deserve it.

But remember that this isn't the end. Remember that there are still rights and guarantees we'll need to win over. Same sex marriage doesn't end all discrimination, and we'll need to work on removing those blockades soon.

So enjoy today. And tomorrow, let's get our boots back in, break out the sledgehammers, and start work on the next roadblock...

...aw, heck. It's Pride Weekend. Take a three day weekend. We can afford it after this win. :)
