Aug. 9th, 2017 12:30 pmSo, here's the thing. Yes, Korea has miniaturized nukes. Yes, Trump is sabre rattling (well, I think it's something other than a sabre) the fire and brimstone speeches.
It's not going to happen. Just not yet.
North Korea won't launch a preemptive strike on the US no matter what their amazingly exaggerated propaganda says. They don't have enough for a sustained war, their missile technology is getting better but not good.
And this isn't what they tend to use their nuclear program for. They tend to use their nuclear program to extort stuff from the west. Food, money, what have you - they'll promise "we'll destroy them if you give us X or Y." Then they'll start building them again in a year or two.
My biggest fear is Trump. While I believe there are much cooler heads outside the White House who know to back down in a nuclear fight, this guy gets angry at Twitter comments. He's got the launch codes and the nuclear football. I'm more worried about him thinking he's been slighted and punching the button.
And at that point...have you ever seen the movie Fail Safe? You better hope it goes better than that went.
